A wink and nod does not supplant job interviews

February 06, 2011Jeff Perry's sweetheart appointment to a position that was not advertised but rather held for him in case he lost an election represents a crushing blow to local government credibility.

Imagine the response a legitimate, sincere (and ethical) job posting would have generated. Qualified applicants would have flooded in to the sheriff's personnel office with robust credentials spilling over into a systematic screening and interviewing of candidates. Applicants would be made up of seasoned combat soldiers, local law enforcement professionals, retired FBI agents and applicants from other professional fields, ranked, interviewed and scored as to their job competencies. A finalist would emerge.

Instead, the job is filled with a wink and a nod.

What have we lost in this shallow political appointment of Jeff Perry to be second in command at the sheriff's office?

Oh, nothing at all, just our community's soul!

Well put Thomas.
Stay tuned for more outrage over this one.
How does the sheriff & Perry sleep at night???? Question weasels..!! Nah, thats way too good for these thieves in uniform.

Toss the lawyers in Gubmint, get Businessmen (women).

Perry as a "Dirty" cop isn't too far fetched.
