Local dovekie not record-breaker for birder

Because of an editing error, the photo caption and a headline for Christian Hagenlocher’s bird-watching story on page A3 in Tuesday’s paper contained incorrect information. When he visited Race Point in Provincetown on Dec. 31, to try to see a dovekie, Hagenlocher already had identified enough birds in 2016 to break the American Birding Association’s Big Year record for 2013.

Date of workshop, raid information incorrect in immigration story

Because of incorrect information provided to a reporter, a story on Page A3 of Monday’s Times included the incorrect date for a free workshop, “Preparing for President Trump,” hosted by Catholic Social Services. The workshop, aimed at addressing immigration-related concerns, is scheduled from 4-5:30 p.m. Jan. 22 at St. Mary, Our Lady of the Isle Church on Nantucket. Because of a reporting error, the story included incorrect information about a 2007 raid on a textile factory in New Bedford. During the 2007 raid, agents with Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained 361 undocumented immigrants, some of whom later gained legal residency in the U.S

Letter incorrect about counties won in election

Because of a writer's error, a letter to the editor on Page A8 of Wednesday's Times included incorrect information about the number of counties Hillary Clinton and President-elect Donald Trump won in the Nov. 8 presidential election. The Associated Press has reported that Clinton won 487 counties and Trump won 2,626 counties.

A survey of society's members on their attitudes toward aid in dying is still in the early stages of being developed, according to MMS spokesman Rick Gulla.

Filming location, age in sea turtle story incorrect

Because of a 2 reporter’s errors, a story on Page A1 of Wednesday’s Times, incorrectly identified where videographers Michele Gomes and Jennifer Ting visited in Mexico while filming a documentary about sea turtles. They filmed in Tecolutla, Mexico. The story also included incorrect information about Gomes’ age when she spent summers in Wellfleet. She was in her teens and early 20s at the time

Information on nuclear plant violations incorrect

Because of a reporting error, a story on Page A1 of Thursday's Times included incorrect information about the criteria for not citing nuclear reactor licensees for a violation classified as “green,” or low risk. Federal regulators may choose to make such violations “non-cited” if the licensee enters them in its corrective action plan and if the violation is not repetitive.

Handicapped parking fine is $100

Arts center responsible for cinema building

A story on Page A1 of Tuesday’s Times requires clarification. The Cape Cod Center for the Arts is responsible for the Cape Playhouse and the Cape Cinema buildings, but leases out the daily operations and programming of the movie house. Editing.

The detainer requests that Renato Cordeiro-DeCampos, a citizen of Brazil who pleaded not guilty in Barnstable District Court to charges he raped two teenage girls, be turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement upon disposition of the case.

Name spelled incorrectly in caption

Because of a photographer’s error, a caption on Page A4 of Monday’s Times contained an incorrect spelling of Richard Cadrin’s name.

6-inch walls help homeowner save energy

Because of an editing error, a letter to the editor on Page A10 of Saturday’s Times misstated the thickness of the walls at the writer’s residence (“We can end our reliance on harmful fossil fuels”). It should have said 6 inches.

Georgia’s 5th District home to 692,000

Because of a writer’s error, a letter to the editor on Page A10 of Saturday’s Times misstated the population of Georgia’s 5th Congressional District, represented by John Lewis. It is approximately 692,000.

Proposal to increase commissioners never implemented

Because of a writer's error, an editorial that appeared on Page B4 of Sunday's Times incorrectly described a 2013 effort to increase the number of county commissioners. The proposal passed, but was never implemented.

Because of incorrect information provided to the Times, a story that appeared on Page C1 of the Jan. 31 edition contained incorrect information about the Town Crier Motel. Judy and Joseph Cannon purchased the business in 1985 from Anna and Robert Thayer.

Carter didn’t have nuclear physics degree

Because of a writer’s error, a “My View” column on Page A8 of Wednesday’s Times incorrectly stated the education credentials of former President Jimmy Carter. Carter received a bachelor’s degree from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1946. At Union College in Schenectady, New York, he studied nuclear physics, but did not obtain a degree in nuclear physics.
