Russian Heat!

Post  Betep on Mon Aug 09, 2010 6:32 am

It's very easy to exchange Centigrade to Fahrenheit,
Rubles to Dollars,
but the heat is hard to translate. 100°f is 120° in Russian.

The view from the flat in winter and in smog now. I know the view in spring is different.

My heart goes out to anyone & everyone who has a difficult time with this heat/humidity. Personally? I feel it sucks eggs.

The poor woman doesn't even own a fan!
"We never have weather like this."
The smokestack is the steam plant at the train station. It provides hot water heat year-round (except for a couple weeks every May when it is closed for repairs). There is a hot water pipe running through her flat today when temps are 93 °F / 34 °C .

"It's just irritating. People either oversleep or wake up early and don't know what to do with the hour."

* DMITRI MEDVEDEV,
* President of Russia, on the decision to cancel daylight savings time; Russia has nine time zones.

Ryazan, Russia...
10 °F / -12 °C
Low Drifting Snow

I would complain.
A lot.

Izhevsk, Russia...
-4 °F / -20 °C
Partly Cloudy

I would complain.
More.

Both.
Quietly in Russian.
English would be a profanity-laden tired away from other people.
